From cycling novice to Tour Rider

Kristian House

Kristian House invites you to ride a stage of the Tour of Britain!...

Ever dreamt of leaping over the barriers and taking to two wheels yourself when The Tour of Britain heads to town? Seem a bit beyond your reach? Well now anyone can turn pro.

Thanks to The Prostate Cancer Charity Tour Rides 2010, you don’t need to spend years training to get the chance to experience the thrill of the chasing bunch.  Anyone can have a go, at your own pace and on your own bike!

Whether you’ve been a keen cycling weekend warrior for years or haven’t sat on a bike since the 80’s, The Prostate Cancer Charity Tour Rides 2010, which take place in September, could be the event for you.

Riders will be able to cycle a stage of the actual route at three locations around the UK, in Stoke-on-Trent, London and for the first time this year, the scenic South West. In London, they’ll even be warming up the tarmac for the real pros by riding the stage just a few hours before the real thing.

Distances range from 2k to 175k, so it’s perfect for cyclists of any level, whether you want to ride in tandem with your family or take on a ‘beast of a ride’ and go the full distance. A whole range of celebrities, from the worlds of sport, film and television are backing the events, including Olympic gold medallist Daley Thompson, Ben Richards of ITV1’s The Bill, Nicole Barber Lane of Hollyoaks and footballer turned pundit Mark Bright. Why not join them at the start line?

Whatever distance you decide to tackle, to make the most of the experience it pays to be prepared.

And on hand to get you into the right (bike) frame of mind is 2009 British Road Cycling Champion Kristian House.

Kristian wants as many of you as possible to not only raise money for The Prostate Cancer Charity, but feel the wind in your hair as you fly around the course of your choice.

So, to help get you on the road to glory, check out his top tips for not only getting your bike in shape, but also your body and mind ahead of the big day.
