As part of his moving forward program Obama visited Europe recently, and from my perspective resulting from my having access to news media from the UK as well as other parts of the Continent what is very obvious is the amount of filtering that took place in the British press regarding his visit.
The inappropriate protocol in his meeting with ‘Her Mage’ for one thing. Then the remarkable non-event that Brown’s much vaunted G20 summit plainly turned out to be in spite of the best efforts of Mandelson et al to spin it as success, and the way that Obama’s call for more cannon fodder for Afghanistan fell flat on European ears.
With the exception of course of those of ‘Bottler’ Brown.
(I just bet he wishes now that he hadn’t bottled out of holding a general election after the excreta has hit the fan!)
But back to Obama.
After the — unfortunate — meeting with the Queen of England by the Obama’s family he then went on to meet the ruler of Saudi Arabia.
You know, the place that Bin Laden originates from, 9/11 And all that, as well as funding the ‘wrong’ kind of Islam, but in that meeting he actually bowed from the waist to the ‘King’. No perfunctory nod such as Her Mage got, a full bloody body salutation.
The nauseating site of The Pres of the US bowing to the ruler of the place that’s funding so much that’s causing grief in the world thankfully seems to have been held back from the majority of the Brits and the Americans.
It really does raise a number of questions probably the most significant about the competence of his advisors on what to do and who to do it to, not to mention the subsequent denial from The White House that the bow actually even took place.

I think its easy to make to much of the bow so he should be given the be the benefit of the doubt.let’s give him a chance. Much depends on angle of sight.

The news here is still focussed on the inappropriateness of a President of the USA bending in a bow to this person…….Perhaps if he had had the courtesy and the brains to do it with the Queen, nothing would have been said about it!!!!
