HELP GET DOGS BACK
ON THEIR FEET!

Charlie Dimmock supports new
awareness campaign
Could your dog be suffering in silence? Does he or she have trouble
getting in and out of bed, climbing stairs or jumping in and out of
the car? Celebrity TV gardener and animal lover, Charlie Dimmock is
encouraging pet owners throughout the county to take advantage of September's
Canine Arthritis Awareness campaign. All dogs in the area are being
offered FREE canine arthritis checks by local participating vets and
if the diagnosis is new, owners will receive a £5.00 voucher to
redeem against further treatment if required.
Over 1 million dogs in the UK suffer from osteoarthritis and, just like
human sufferers, they experience pain and lack of mobility. Owners may
simply think lameness is due to old age and as dogs don't express their
pain in quite the same way, many could be experiencing discomfort.
An incredible 15,000 dogs were seen by vets during last year's campaign.
This year, hundreds of veterinary practices up and down the country
plan to register their support for Canine Arthritis Awareness Month
while owners are being encouraged to make an appointment with their
registered vet for a FREE arthritis check.
Dog owners are advised to contact their vet to make an appointment.
They can also get helpful information on the condition from www.dogarthritischeck.com
<http://www.dogarthritischeck.com>. This website goes live September
1st and will offer a great source of information on canine arthritis
- tips, treatment and care.
Charlie Dimmock, one of Britain's best loved gardeners is enthusiastically
backing the campaign. As an animal lover, and owner of a much treasured
elderly dog, Charlie really cares about pets possibly suffering from
arthritis. She said, "This is a great campaign and definitely something
that all pet owners should be getting behind.
During the month, through education, awareness and support, caring pet
owners can discover everything they need to know about canine arthritis
- prevention, signs and treatment - to help get their pets back on their
feet."
