Dogs
Dogs have worked alongside man for centurys and continue to give loyal and willing service in the fields, on the racetracks, in the security services and in helping the disabled.
Everyone in the UK will be aware of the Guide Dogs for the Blind charity, perhaps fewer know of the equally praiseworthy Hearing Dogs project and there are many more schemes where dogs serve man. However, we are more concerned in this section of the site with dogs as domestic pets although I should perhaps quote Lord Tebbit saying that they really "shouldn't be called 'pets', they are rightfully 'companions'."
