Web to Date

The easy way to create and maintain your websites

Release Date - PC CDROM Software - 24th March 2006

A program that promises and delivers professional website design and maintenance without the need to understand any programming (HTML etc.) or complex terminology whatsoever. Priced around £49.99 from software outlets Web to Date 2.0 provides everything required to quickly
establish professional websites. An emphasis on upkeep ensures users can keep their sites up-to-date with minimum effort and none of the usual associated costs!

Websites are essential assets for businesses today and when managed correctly provide effective and efficient communication direct to its audience. A well managed website delivers key messages and product information at a fraction of the cost of alternative marketing activities.

Businesses large or small shouldn’t be restricted by budgets dictating how they are presented on the Internet. Web to Date2.0 comes with ready to use top quality templates that can be
edited and customised to fit user needs. Logos, information, images, contact forms and so on are simple to insert components making design and maintenance a cinch!

Design and maintenance couldn’t be easier as everything is managed from one intuitive editor for complete confidence and control. Conversely, Web to Date 2.0 is perfect for freelance designers and webmasters as they can present entire sites and pass the ongoing maintenance
responsibility to the owner removing the uneconomical hassle of external updates and modifications that really should be dealt with internally – now they can!

Age-Net review

We at age-net were in process of upgrading and redesigning our own web-site when this product became available so we looked at it with particular interest.

Firstly, it should be said that this is a software package which has been successfuly used for some years in Germany and in other parts of Europe where it is now at version 4 (the UK offering is version 2.0). It seemed to us that the release has been rushed for the UK market. One self help start-up file was missing from the CD (a link will be provided from the company web-site) and we got a response in German when we tried to access the search facility. No doubt these small glitches will be ironed out, but they took the edge of what is a perfectly reasonable programme.

Does it work? Yes it does, but unusually for web authoring software, the less you know about web-sites, the easier this is likely to be. An experienced user may find it exasperating at times.

Our problem? Not sufficiently versatile for our needs, particularly with regard to layout options. The programme locks you into strict formatting which we thought too restrictive.

Suitable for? Excellent for small - medium commercial sites with rapid stock changes where consistent layout and the need to regularly update product information images is needed. We thought immediately of jewlery sites but any site which needs low cost product updates would find the strict structuring helpful.

Value for money? At a suggested £49.99 it is excellent value.
