Author William George
This new book is a very personal insight into one mans attempt to come
to terms with the loss of his wife through cancer in November of 2000
following a happy marriage of 39 years.
Obviously a man who was used to being in control of his life - and, one
suspects, his emotions - his loss affected him much more than he could
have imagined. Written over a period of seven months it describes his
thoughts, his initial rejection of counselling, the reaction of friends
and family and his struggle to understand and eventually to come to terms
with his grief.
We all perceive and handle grief in our own way. This book will not lessen
the effects of our loss but could certainly help in our understanding
of other peoples reaction to loss. Indeed, in this reviewers opinion,
the book might be even more valuable to friends and family in helping
them to understand the mental process which accompanies such loss.
He closes the book with this poem,
To
the bereaved.
We have never Met,
We may never meet,
Your hurt is different
than mine,
But our wounds are
equally deep,
Caring is sharing,
Sharing is careing,
Reach out from your
heart,
It's there to see,
Somebody, somewhere
cares for you,
As I know they care
for me.
