SILVER SUN

Release:- 21st November

Silver Sun are the United Kingdom's finest purveyors of fuzz-filled power-packed pop perfection. Since releasing their first EP in 1996 they have managed to create a world of harmony that has created a ring of rock-pleasure around the globe. They have previously released two albums Silver Sun and Neo Wave, which gave the world six Top 40 singles: Lava, Golden Skin, Julia, Last Day, I'll See You Around and Too Much Too Little Too Late.

The band's line up is James Broad (vocals/guitar), Richard Buckton (bass/vocals), Paul Smith (guitar) and Richard Sayce (drums/vocals). They have toured extensively in Europe, the USA and Asia, leaving a trail of havoc rivalled only by the James Last Orchestra's ill-fated Shakatak covers tour of 1978. Since the last album release the band have both launched their own brand of calculator as well as buying a small farmhouse in Lancashire which they use as a studio and dental hygiene laboratory.

Silver Sun are back on 21st November with their phenomenal new single Immediate. This will be their first release since their Top 30 hit 'I'll See You Around'. It is also the first release since the Lava single to feature the sci-fi artwork of Jeff Cummins who worked with the band throughout the campaign for their first album and associated singles.

Immediate is just some of the juice from the fruit of 5 years worth of songwriting (208 songs) from frontman James Broad. "This is the greatest album we have released, it's been a labour of love and has almost lost me my figure, my relationship, my virginity and my bank account. But it has been worth it," he says.

This song and the rest of new album Disappear Here was recorded in the Silver Sun studio in Walthamstow, East London, and was written, produced and played by James Broad, who has rarely left the mixing board since the band's self-imposed hibernation in the year 2000.

The foursome are currently rehearsing for upcoming dates which threaten to be the highlight of your live year. The stage set will be impressive and is rumoured to be a scale representation of the bands favourite capital city, Antananarivo.

The band still hold the honours of being the only band louder than Faith No More to play Newcastle Riverside and the only band to blow up the PA at Rock City in Nottingham without even playing a note. No one has ever lost a limb at a Silver Sun gig but it is surely only a matter of time.

There has, thank God, been a recent move towards real rock'n'roll, which Silver Sun purveyed so loftily above the waning fag-ends of Britpop. It is only a matter of moments before Silver Sun reclaim their rightful place as the masters of melody and the harvesters of rockjoy. You won't realise it yet maybe, but you have missed them. Oh yes, you have missed them.

Silver Sun front man injured in video stunt

Whilst filming the show-girl-esque video for their new single Immediate, Silver Sun front man James Broad was flung from the rafters of a warehouse in Pinewood Studios.

The injuries were not physically serious but mental damage has occurred resulting in the pulling of the finished video in an attempt not to upset his family and friends.

As James fell from the heights his harness was slightly tangled in inappropriate places which made James very fearful for his manhood. He was comforted by his new wife after he had been painfully lowered to the ground but it was all too much and he was taken to the quiet room by the band's on-set healer.

The video that has resulted from the filming that had taken place before James' ordeal was put together to form the 'makings of' which can be viewed on request. This shows the fun and games that were had on the day that led to the small disaster.

Silver Sun used the profits of their successful stain-removal business (www.stainawaytoday.com) to pay for the video which was filmed in Pinewood Studio 6 (chosen because of it's proximity to the bands favourite restaurant 'Moriati's' in Staines ).

On the same day, the director of the video (who asked to have his name removed from the project after an argument with the band about the provision of separate climate-controlled dressing rooms) was mauled by his girlfriend after being seen speaking enthusiastically with other scantily-clad women and, unfortunately, unlike James, the poor boy can no longer live in hope for children of his own.

The single Immediate is released on the 21st November backed by b-sides Sweet Baby and Dance With Me. This is the first audio release to feature Exo-sound technology. Developed in Japan by Tetsoshita Corporation in the early 90's it has only just been made available for use. Effectively it means the listener cannot hear anything but the music on the disk (i.e. - no external sounds). Banned from use in any kind of vehicle it means the CD must be listened to alone in a confined space and without clothes.
