"Charlotte has a huge
career in front of her" - Richard Allinson, Radio 2
She's been singing and dancing since the age of three. She's been winning
talent contests since the age of eight. Now, 17 year-old Charlotte Cooper
is ready to make her true impact on the music industry with the September
release of her debut album Goes Without Saying, which is produced by
the legendary Steve Levine (Beach Boys, The Clash and Culture Club).

Alongside his old colleagues and Charlotte's very own discoverers,
Beach Boys' Jeffery Foskett and Billy Hinchse, Levine began to sculpture
the most angelic and blissful sound since The Carpenters, a sound which
gives Goes Without Saying a distinctive combination of classic easy-listening,
and catchy pop-balladry.
Debut single, Lucky Guy, achieved various play-list slots on over thirty
radio stations across the country, including Radio 2 and Radio London,
where Charlotte received mass-support from Richard Allinson and Mike
Read respectively. It was Read especially who put a lot of dedication
into Charlotte's cause, playing many of the fabulously written acoustic-pop
songs off Goes Without Saying, as a result of Charlotte's new-found
status as one of the most requested new artists on Radio London.
And the heavyweight industry connections don't end there. Apart from
the Beach Boys themselves, special guest performers on the album include
Gerry Beckley, the founding member of popular 70s US rock band America,
and the legendary Elton John collaborator, Kiki Dee. What makes the
contributions even more impressive is that they both sing backing-vocals
on their own songs, which Charlotte has covered.
Partly as a consequence of the musical backgrounds of many of Charlotte's
contributors, the songs off Goes Without Saying, many of which are written
by Charlotte herself, are of an admirably mature caliber, especially
considering Charlotte's youthful age. Her vocals on tracks such as Sometimes
I Wish and title track Goes Without Saying, are performed with such
adult confidence, they certainly have the capacity to compete with such
contemporaries as Katie Melua and Norah Jones, as well as attracting
similarly-sized followings
Amongst her celebrity admirers are Chicago's Robert Lamm, Eagles' Timothy
B Schmidt and Chris Rainbow. Oh yes, and her school friends included
McFly's Dougie Pointer, and the star of Billy Elliot, George Maguire.
Not often does an every-day teenage girl receive such heavyweight industry
backing at such a tender stage in their career. Then again Charlotte
is not your every-day teenager. Having been immersed by music, dance
and admirers in both fields from such a young age, it was inevitable
that her break would come. Now it is her time to really shine, and Goes
Without Saying does not fail as a debut displaying the immense talent
of a future star.
