For Janice…

If I could sail a mighty ship to some far and distant land
Then take that ship’s small dinghy onto the silver sand,
And from the native market purchase strands of ribbons fair
To return the way from whence I came and to weave them in your hair.

If I could fly with an eagle’s wings soaring, soaring high
To search the mystic mountain tops through an eagle’s eye,
Then pluck a glittering diamond chain from an ancient tribal wreck
To return the way from whence I came and place it round your neck.

If I could search the Dragon’s cave as he slumbers unaware
His fiery breath the only light on the gold and silver there,
Then I would take one golden brush with matching silver comb
Presented in an ivory box to be your very own.

If I could take you by the hand as back through time we fly
Towards an unknown mystic age beneath a steely sky,
To step out in the wreaths of time on a silent misty morn
For on this day you get to ride the lovely Unicorn.
