From Sevenoaks to Father Thames
The water ripples round the bends
Along the River Darent
A peaceful walk, a joyful ride
A pleasant place for one to hide
Along the River Darent
Dogs can splash and children play
At crack of dawn, to end of day
Within the River Darent
Kingfishers startling as they swoop
Ducks bring their tiny ducklings too
Along the River Darent
Trout and Pike are to be seen
Men with rods, to catch them keen
Beside the River Darent
A country pub, a watermill
At summers blaze or winters chill
Beside the River Darent
It takes my cares and woes away
When walking in this month of May
Beside the river Darent
A bubbling rush, or slow and deep
At times it seems to go to sleep
It is the River Darent.
Dedicated to Deepha my dog, as without her, I probably wouldnt
have been walking here.
