A Winter's Tale

Thick white snow lies deep
Covering winter's bare land.
Here and there brave snowdrops peep
White faces frosty with the cold.
Trees still like scarecrows stand
Brown and barren like the ground
Frosty fingers on each hand.
A single snowflake whirls midair
Slowly falling to the ground beneath
Seemingly without a care
It joins the others lying there.
The beauty of nature is all round
In the air, the sky and on the ground.
