Through The Window

The beauty of the world is all around
The yellow, hanging catkin on the tree.
White frosted icing on the ground.
Hungry birds with stiff legged walks.
Hard cracked ground all brown and bare.
White flower drops on slender stalks.
Daffodils nod in rows of golden heads.
A cold wind stirs the icy pond.
Seedlings struggle in their beds.
Against the sky, a bird flies free.
A frosted cloth clothes the window pane.
Toasted muffins and chocolate cake for tea.
