Boris Karloff, Christopher Lee, Dracula and Frankenstein are all names
that summon up horror stories from the past.
Blood, bats, haunted graveyards and zombies were the main ingredients.
Sex consisted of a bite on the neck and a great deal of swooning.
Violence and bad language did not exist.
It was all so different years ago. Horror was simple. It was enough
for the audience to use their own imagination and there were few special
effects. The undead, haunting the misty graveyard, were pretty tame
by todays standards but could still have the audience hiding their
eyes and feeling the odd goose bump!
Stephen King and James Herbert are among writers today who can thrill
with their nail-biting writings. Their work is not for the fainthearted
or indeed those who enjoy a late night read before sleep, as some of
the stomach churning scenes do little for a dreamless night.
The stories today may be more bloodthirsty and explicit, but I feel
nostalgia for those old film stars and the way emotions were conveyed
simply by a raised eyebrow or a gesture.

You know what to do-send your work to Age-net, if it is suitable for
our delicate readers! It will appear here for all to read.
Sir Conan Doyle eat your heart out!
