GINGE

Peering timidly out of one of the Cat’ Protection League cages was the most ugly cat I had ever seen in my life. She had long spindly legs and equally long ears. Recently spayed, the black stitches were still sticking out of her dull stripy ginger coat. Her yellow eyes looked at me with deep sadness.   Dreadful things had obviously happened to this thin scrap. She was altogether a very sorry sight and I felt a great wave of compassion surge over me.

“Ok Ginge” I told her.” You are coming home with me and nobody will ever hurt you again”. Ginge seemed to understand everything I said right from the start. At home she hardly left my side following me everywhere. Over the next few weeks a small miracle took place. With plenty of good food Ginge got fatter and so her legs and ears began to look smaller. Her scar healed over, her ginger coat grew again and took on a golden shine. Seeing her now sitting on the bed, huge amber eyes glowing, white belly gleaming, it is hard to remember the ugly skinny animal that came into my home and my heart over 4 years ago.

Don't miss the fun!
