A self taught artist-born in Penzance in beautiful Cornwall where his
love of the sea began as he spent hours as a boy, at the harbour-side,
watching the shipping coming and going in and out of Mounts Bay.
During WW2 he served with the Paras for five years in the Far East.
When he returned to Civvy Street in 1947 he found he just
couldnt settle down, so he joined the Merchant Navy serving mostly
on oil tankers tramping round the world for 15 years. By now the sea
was in his blood and when he gave up going to sea in the 60s he
started to paint his sea memories. He continued to paint and teach art
from his studio for the next 15 years. Now retired, he paints local scenes
and landscapes as well as ships and seascapes. He paints in oils, acrylics
and watercolours.
All work is sold unframed for ease of delivery.
Laser prints available A3-A4 sizes, from £15 (would make excellent gifts
for art lovers!) E-mail the artist to discuss special commissions at duke@studiowest34.freeserve.co.uk
